The Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre is the Government museum and archives, located in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. The complex itself is very large and in these two wildlife habitat galleries 3DS created expansive simulated environments that display animals of the North in their natural environments. Taxidermy moose, muskox and even full sized models of whales appear in fully realized natural habitats.
Interactive reader rails, surrounding the wildlife displays, support each large-scale diorama. Using hidden motion sensors, these interactive exhibit elements activate automatically as a visitor walks by, inviting use of built-in touch screens and iPads. The exhibits were designed and masterminded by Vancouver’s D. Jensen & Associates and make extensive use of the highly adaptable Logic Exhibit Case System for exhibit showcases.
