The Alaska exhibition is unlike most permanent history galleries. It’s daring in the way it uses high-impact artistic installations, contemporary design and a certain tongue-in-cheek voice to tell the story of Alaskan identity — past, present, and future.
Designed by Montreal’s GSM Project, the 12,000 sq ft space tells the story of Alaska, its people and the vast Northern landscape through sculpture, interactivity, multimedia, soundscapes and cinematic narratives. 3DS fabricated all exhibit elements including a 23-foot long feature wall, describing Alaska in a series of related objects, strategically placed and beautifully lit.
The range of complex exhibits required the use of numerous materials and processes, along with a collection of intricate graphics. AV and Lighting requirements ranged from custom lighting installations to soundscapes for various spaces, to a neon light wall showcasing Alaska’s boom and bust economy. 3DS’ capabilities in creating large millwork displays, creative use of materials, superior AV and lighting, object handling, graphics production, and installation expertise are all on display at the Alaska Exhibition.
