Lake Louise came to 3DS with two on-mountain lodges, one small, one not-so-small. Temple Lodge was a little wooden jewel. Formerly an on-mountain log-built hotel, We knew immediately that “smartening up” the servery would bring the entire building to life. We reorganized the layout, provided strong visual cues to help distribute traffic and tightened issues with traffic flow between the servery, entrance and seating area. The result is a wonderful all-wood space, with a very clear centre.
Higher up, Whitehorn Lodge had been closed since 2009, functioning only in summer as a wildlife interpretive centre. 3DS renovated the entire interior and transformed it into a beautiful, expansive sit-down restaurant. The use of wood, natural stone and barn-board creates a casual, upscale environment, while remaining completely accessible to skiers and families. The room is easily reconfigured to accommodate weddings and large events; dividers and other fixtures on wheels allow for unlimited configurations. Now, the no longer seasonal, Whitehorn Lodge is able to operate year round to take advantage of opportunities at any time of year.
