Concord Pacific has been a major presence on Vancouver’s False Creek Waterfront for years and its Presentation Centre is a true showplace. The company is False Creek’s main developer, with a slate of ongoing projects that have come to define a large part of the city. The Discovery Center itself occupies a large yet portable building and has actually been moved more than once over the years. Its latest configuration involved a complete refurbishing, in anticipation of a radical increase in traffic with the Vancouver 2010 Olympics.
All stops were pulled out and a stunning contemporary treatment was in order. 3DS created hanging translucent panels with constantly changing lighting effects on the entrance and reception. Inside, an immense topographical map serves as the facility’s centrepiece, towered over by two-storey-high solid banners, locating the development area in its urban context. A series of individual yet consistently-themed display areas unfold around it, showcasing Concord Pacific’s projects, both local and as far away as Ontario.
