The reproduction antique wood Marlin that greets visitors to the Palmilla Hotel beach resort sales center is a very special monument. Back in the 1940s, the Palmilla Hotel Resort was built by the son of Mexico’s President on the Baja’s prime piece of beachfront, and immediately became the retreat of choice for Hollywood royalty. Errol Flynn, Clark Gable, Carole Lombard, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby and other Hollywood stars made regular pilgrimage to this tropical sanctuary. Their stories are commemorated in meticulous hand lettering on this beautiful carved wood marlin. It looks a hundred years old, but 3DS made it in our shop.
Throughout the Center, interactive touch screen video systems shine from inside ornate polished brass frames. A spectacular hand-cast glass topographic model shows the resort and surrounding area. No ordinary real estate model, this piece has a much more artistic flavor and, illuminated from within, emits a jewel-like glow.
Del Mar Developments Presentation Center: This exclusive beachfront community has welcomed Steven Spielberg, Meryl Streep, George Clooney, Bono and many more. What makes this lovely sales center different is the way it blends so naturally with the hotel itself, putting visitors completely at ease, anywhere within it.
Still, this is a sales center, so a full complement of sales tools is readily at hand. A heavy, 3DS-made, but ancient-looking old-world cabinet houses a bank of interactive touchscreen presentation displays, complete with custom-designed “drill-down” interface. A luminescent custom-cast glass Mayan calendar shimmers with ever changing, rear-projected images of sunsets, clouds and exotic sea life. Maps are never far away, on a wall, in hand-painted tile, or on the elegant central model table. A backlit onyx wall with shadowboxes displays historic artifacts, with tales of the resort’s founders.
Most curious is our duplication of the resort’s guestbook: While the real thing would not be suitable for public display, our version is re-created from copies, with completely bankable master forgeries of all notes and signatures of a number of A-list celebrities.
